Is Microwave Steam Pressure a Better Way to Cook?
Well, we certainly think so. And here is why: Steaming intensifies the flavors of foods. Additionally, more nutrients are retained by steaming than with any other cooking method. This is especially true when you are cooking vegetables because the nutrients are not washed away in the cooking liquid. With the extraordinarily quick cooking time inherent in our unique microwave steam pressure method, more flavor and nutrients are preserved.
Do Steamed Vegetables Taste Better?
From a chef's perspective, cooking really is done in two ways, moist heat and dry heat.
With regard to moist heat the most beneficial is steam. It is preferable for several reasons. The first is that steamed foods stay extraordinarily moist and tender. The second is that steamed foods do not lose much of their original volume through the shrinkage that typically occurs in dry-heat cooking methods. Flavor and food texture are the two key components in determining taste. We think Steam Cuisine scores a ten in both categories!
Does Steam Pressure Cooking Help Preserve Nutrients?
How foods are cooked can have a big impact on their nutrient content. The best way to destroy vitamins is to cook your food in an open pot of boiling water. To retain the most nutrients possible, most experts recommend that you use as little water as possible and cook foods rapidly because many vitamins are sensitive to water, heat and air exposure (vitamin C, the B vitamins and folate in particular) and water used for cooking can dissolve and wash away water soluble vitamins, while the heat deteriorates them. Steam pressure cooking serves both requirements for retained nutrient content because it cooks the food very rapidly and uses very little water.
Does Steam Pressure Cooking Retain More Water-Soluble Vitamins?
Many vitamins such as "B's" and C" are water-soluble and the simple act of washing them takes away some of the vitamins. Vitamins "D" and "E" are fat-soluble. Fat-soluble vitamins are stored and metabolized with the fat in our bodies. Fat-soluble vitamins are not as volatile as water soluble vitamins and are not as readily “cooked away.” Any cooking that minimizes cooking time, temperature, and water will help to preserve nutrients. Pressure cooking under steam, like Steam Cuisine, is one of the best methods because it minimizes time and requires little water.
What is All-Natural Food?
All Natural is defined by the USDA as “A product containing no artificial ingredient or added color and is only minimally processed (a process which does not fundamentally alter the raw product)”. The label must explain the use of the term natural (such as – no added colorings or artificial ingredients; minimally processed.) Read our ingredients. The words will make you hungry and not make you think you are studying for a chemistry exam.
We use only natural, real food in all our SteamCuisine® Products. You know – real food ingredients with names anyone can pronounce. We want them to be not only good for you, but to taste great as well!
What is Microwave Steam Pressure Cooking?
The concept of ‘Microwave Steam Pressure Cooking Technology’ means that, in the first phase, when the food is still cold, the microwave energy penetrates deeply into food and converts to heat instantaneously. The water content inside the food transforms into hot steam cooking the food inside out. In the second phase, as the hot steam exits the food, it is captured and retained inside the SteamCuisine® package. As pressure then builds up the food gets cooked also from outside in.
Can I Freeze SteamCuisine®?
We try to make SteamCuisine® products as fresh as possible. That means we get fresh vegetables harvested, cleaned and cut and into our meals as quickly as we can (Hence the term Harvest Fresh Vegetables). Because they are raw, it is not recommended that you freeze our SteamCuisine® meals but enjoy them within their consume-by date.
In other words – don’t mess with fresh!
What if I Hear a Loud POP in My Microwave When I Cook SteamCuisine?
Relax, the steam pressure has built up faster than our film can release it and it has torn open the film a little early. Keep cooking the product. It will be cooked perfectly and will taste great.
Can I Safely Microwave SteamCuisine® Container & Film?
All SteamCuisine® plastic packaging components are made from microwave-safe plastic. Not only can you safely cook in it, but you can also eat directly from the container. However, for aesthetic reasons, we think Steam Cuisine deserves to be served on your finest China, and eaten by candlelight.
